Course Description

As you probably know an OSHA 10 for Construction is now required on many job sites. It became mandatory in Nevada last year for all construction sites per Nevada Assembly Bill 148 that all construction workers have an OSHA 10 hour card and all persons supervising work have an OSHA 30 hour card. Six other states have passed similar legislation and we are seeing the same requirements on many federal sites. This is an effort to reduce workplace injuries and fatalities through education.

Course Outline

Current OSHA Guidelines for the OSHA 10 hour for Construction:

Two hours of Introduction to OSHA which includes

  • The OSHA Act, General Duty Clause, Employer and Employee Rights and Responsibilities, Whistle blower Rights, and Record keeping Basics
  • Inspections, Citations, and Penalties
  • General Safety and Health Provisions, Competent Person, Subpart C
  • Value of Safety and Health
  • OSHA Website and available resources
  • OSHA 800 number

TWO Hours on:

  • Fall Protection - Subpart M
  • Electrical - Subpart K
  • Struck by (e.g. falling objects, trucks, cranes)
  • Caught in/between (e.g. trench hazards, equipment)

30 Minutes - Personal protective and lifesaving equipment - Subpart E

30 Minutes - Health Hazards in Construction

A minimum of 2 hours on at least 2 of the following topics

  • Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal - Subpart H
  • Tools - Hand and Power - Subpart I
  • Scaffolds - Subpart L
  • Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators, and Conveyors - Subpart N
  • Excavations - Subpart P
  • Stairways and Ladders - Subpart X

The remaining time is to be spent expanding on these topics or on other construction industry hazards and/or policies. The elective courses will be selected to fit your companies scope of work or can be requested. If you do not see a class scheduled, or it does not fit your time requirements please give us a call and we will set up a class to fit your needs. Training time must meet OSHA requirements of 10 hours. This can be done in one 10 hour day, or by combining a 7 hour and a 3 hour day. We believe retention of materials is better when the training is done over two days but we also realize your need to keep our employees on the job so we will adjust the training to accommodate your schedule.
